Traci Tillis is the Applications System Manager for the Every Child Accountability & Tracking System (ECATS) and Educational Technology Services Team (ETS) at the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI), where she has been a key leader since 2018. In this role, Traci manages the development and enhancement of ECATS, the state-wide case management and federal reporting system for Special Education. She works to ensure that the system supports educators, administrators, and policymakers in fostering accountability and improving student support statewide.
Before her work in public education technology, Traci was the Section Chief for Web Services and Publications Sales at NCDPI, overseeing the department’s digital and print resources for educators.
Traci holds both a Master of Science in Journalism and a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from Ohio University. She is a National Certified Government Chief Information Officer (NCG-CIO), certified by the UNC School of Government, and holds an Award of Achievement in Web Analytics from the University of British Columbia.
With more than 20 years of experience in public sector IT management and strategic communications, Traci is dedicated to improving education through innovative technology solutions and effective communication strategies.
